Pinnacle: MK was the largest new office development in Milton Keynes for over a quarter of a century; a 250,000sq ft design and build for developers Hampton Brook. Even before the soil had been disturbed, Hampton Brook had signed up international audit consultants Deloitte & Touche to take space on three of the four floors, and so we were asked to carry out a variation fit-out for Deloitte & Touche.

This was partnership working at its truest and most enjoyable. We forged excellent working relationships with architects Peter Haddon & Partners, and together spent a good amount of time visiting Deloitte & Touche’s London offices to get an idea on the kind of design and finish quality that needed replicating at the Pinnacle, followed by ongoing design and review meetings to keep all parties apprised of progress.

Deloitte & Touche had taken 50,000sq ft over the ground, first and second floors, and our fitout took in consultation rooms and a training room on one floor, one and a half floors of open-plan, hot-desk layout, and a small commercial kitchen on the first floor. We created a small and private client touchdown area with perch desks for arriving clients to access WiFi and work while they wait, all separated by stylish glass panelling.

Deloitte & Touche also required a dedicated reception area; we commissioned and fitted an etched glass map with LEDlit location marker built in, acting as a welcoming desk backdrop to highlight the firm’s new location. The reception area also housed the staff self-service coffee bar, complete with seating and feature lighting.

As well as installing extensive data cabling and AV supply to offices, meeting rooms, and training room/boardroom, we laid all the infrastructure for a dedicated video conferencing suite so well equipped it was more akin to a television studio. Feature lighting, floating ceilings and backlit glass cladding all combined to raise the internal atmosphere to the level you’d expect of a City of London office.

The entire project was completed on time and on budget, with Deloitte & Touche happily ensconced in its new, BREEAM Excellentrated home several months before the rest of the building was completed.
